Whole Bunch Syrah 2024

ABOUT

The Whole Bunch Syrah forms part of our Projects Range. These are wines we can get geeky about - interesting, small runs, slightly quirky, but always delicious!

VINEYARD NOTES

Botrivier has a Mediterranean climate, which means longer growing seasons with moderate to warm temperatures. The 2024 vintage was marked by a wet winter and spring, fostering vigorous vineyard growth, while challenging weather during flowering resulted in lower yields. Despite reduced quantities, the 2024 wines showcase intense characteristics balanced by a lively freshness, a testament to the vineyard's robust early-season development.

WINEMAKING

All fruit was hand-picked, foot-stomped, and whole-bunch fermented for 10 days, pressed, and aged in steel tanks (80%) and older barrels (20%) for 10 months.

TASTING NOTE

A juicy, succulent and marginally less spicy vintage than the ‘23, the nose showing redcurrants, plums and rosewater. The palate is fresh and crunchy, with lively acids and a sappy, dry tannin structure bringing tension and focus to the wine alongside fynbos and wet earth. As the wine unfolds, the distinctive violet note comes to the fore, with olives and liquorice adding further layers of complexity.
