The Landscape Series is a range of six wines that showcase our finest vineyard sites, together with some special old vine treasures, and aims to give an honest representation of the elements that make them unique. We wanted the labels to reflect this approach and commissioned artist Rod Freemantle to capture the spirit of these landscapes. He painted each label using pigments he created by grinding rocks from the vineyards where these grapes were grown, mixing them with natural binders to create earth-based paints. Each label literally contains the ground beneath the vines—a true representation of the diverse landscapes that shape these wines.
The 2022 vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions, allowing the Cabernet Franc to develop its characteristic complexity and structure. The fruit comes from carefully selected vineyard blocks on the estate.
All fruit was destemmed and fermented naturally. Daily pump-overs until fermentation stopped. Aged in barrel (30% new) for 14 months.
Plush red and black fruits with coffee, subtle pea-shoot herbaceousness and an alluring, lightly peaty smokiness make this a complex and classically Loire-style expression. With fine and finessed tannins delivering a rounded mouthfeel, the wine's full-fruited intensity and structure make for a balanced and poised vintage.
